Comment on the debate about data protection for smart home solutions
Leer, 11 June 2019 – According to media reports, the Interior Minister of the Federal States, at the Interior Ministry Conference which starts today, will vote on whether digital traces of Internet-enabled devices in private homes will be permitted to be used as evidence in court.
Bernd Grohmann, Board Member at eQ-3 AG in Leer, announced that
“For us, as the leading European provider of smart home solutions, the protection of the private life of our customers is our priority. We value the confirmation that our customers can use our home control solution Homematic IP anonymously and do not need to register. In addition, the wireless protocols which the devices communicate with are encrypted and the protocol, IT and data security have been certified by VDE, the German Association for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies. This sets us apart from American tech companies whose business models are based on the storage, processing and sale of user data.”
